What is the craft?

Molela is a close-knit settlement of around 885 households, with only 30–40 families continuing the traditional terracotta craft, which has been preserved by the Kumhar community through generations of hands-on practice. Known for its hand-modelled clay plaques used in shrines and community spaces, the craft holds deep cultural and ritual significance.

Rooted in this heritage, Mridika reinterprets Molela terracotta into contemporary jewellery, transforming tradition into wearable forms that are both meaningful and modern.
